Aria’s birthday is coming up next month, so it motivated me to take a look back and remember all the fun we had for Ezra’s first birthday party all those months ago!
First birthdays seem to be a huge deal! But all we really wanted was a party where she could just play and have fun with her friends and cousins. We planned for something simpler than the usual, but still enjoyable for all the kids and adults. Aria had a really big first birthday party with loud music, a program, and a host, but she just cried the whole time. This time, for Ezra’s first birthday, I wanted to change it up and hoped for less crying from my baby girls.
The party theme we chose was a fruity flamingo pool party! It’s very apt for the summer season. We decided to celebrate it at home instead of renting a venue, so there’s a lot less fuss. We didn’t plan on a program anymore but opted for a lot of storytelling, bonding, and playing. Plus, who doesn’t love getting in the pool on a summer day?
Ezra’s first birthday wouldn’t have been such a fun party without some help from lovely people. Our cute event setup was by Party Station Philippines, and the beautiful and bright blooms were by Amante Fleurs. Party Station provides event styling for all sorts of gatherings. I can truly say that they got the theme we wanted perfectly! Our house was filled with brightly colored balloons, cutouts, lanterns, and more. Ezra, Aria, and the kids really loved the design. But the adults loved it even more!
Our giveaways were these travel pillows from Insta Mug, and watermelon bags and coin purses from Arteegram Manila. We even had a real live mermaid (sort of!) from Mermaid Institute. R Freezy gave ice cream for everyone to chill out on a hot day. We also had a takoyaki and sushi bar by Tako Bar!
And as always, Nice Print Photography captured all the moments from this event. I’m glad we have so many photos to look back on since my babies only turn one once.
Of course, I have to mention that my amazing mother-in-law Tita Annabelle helped me out so much in planning this party. Almost all of our family events happen perfectly thanks to her. 🙂 She and Tito Eddie probably spoil Ezra and Aria more than Elvis and I do!
From one peso-savvy mom to another, I want to stress that sometimes you don’t really need to spend a lot on your kid’s birthday party. We had no elaborate magic shows, no fancy venue, and a rather simple idea of what we wanted. Sometimes you can just look for convenient options online to help you with birthday party planning on a budget. With a little advance planning and budgeting, you’ll still have a memorable party that everyone, especially your baby, will enjoy.
Ezra is just one year old, so she might not even remember the party. But all I hope for is that she remembers what a fun-filled childhood she had, where her parents were there for all her important milestones. Happy Birthday, my baby girl!
